8 Celebs Who Chose To Remove Their Breast Implants
Chrissy Teigen recently opened up about her decision to remove her breast implants — 10 years after her initial augmentation. The model and cookbook author underwent a COVID-19 test this week to be cleared for her upcoming surgery, and she says she’s looking forward to life on the other side of her reversal. “They’ve been great to me for many years but I’m just over it,” Teigen wrote candidly on Instagram. “I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort! No biggie!”
Her openness on the topic was met with messages of support from other celebrities — including Ayesha Curry and Yolanda Hadid, who have both undergone reversals in recent years. They’re far from alone. Whether for health concerns or personal preference, women around the world have made the choice to have their implants removed — including the eight celebrities, ahead.
Chrissy Teigen
Back in March, the mom of two made her intentions clear: “I want them out now,” she revealed to Glamour UK. Shortly after, elective surgeries were suspended in California due to COVID-19, and Teigen’s plans were temporarily put on hold.
But now that some hospitals in the state are slowly reintroducing elective procedures, Teigen is moving forward with surgery and following all the proper precautions (including a COVID-19 test). “A lot of people are understandably curious (and nosey!) so I’ll just say it here: I’m getting my boobs out!” the star wrote in her Instagram caption. “Don’t worry about me! All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat. Which is all a tit is in the first place. A dumb, miraculous bag of fat.”Photo: Getty Images.
Ayesha Curry
Fellow culinary entrepreneur Ayesha Curry, who got surgery last year to remove her implants, offered words of encouragement to Teigen. “Life changing, you’re gonna love it,” she wrote in an Instagram comment. “I got mine out last year. They were making me so sick.”
In an interview with Working Mother last year, Curry said she immediately regretted her decision to get breast implants following her pregnancy. “It came in the form of me being depressed about my body,” Curry said. “The intention was just to have [my breasts] lifted, but I came out with these bigger boobs I didn’t want… I got the most botched boob job on the face of the planet.”Photo: Jonathan Leibson/Getty Images.
Yolanda Hadid
Hadid, former model and mother to Bella and Gigi Hadid, also cheered Teigen on in the comments. “Smart girl,” she wrote. In an Instagram post from last year, Hadid shared that she’s had all her enhancements reversed, including her breast implants, which she removed on a 2016 episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after discovering that silicone from the implant was leaking into her body.
“Living in a body free of breast implants, fillers, botox, extensions,” she wrote. “Your health is your wealth so please make educated decisions, research the partial information you’re given by our broken system before putting anything foreign in your body.” Photo: Lev Radin/Pacific Press/LightRocket/Getty Images.
Victoria Beckham
The designer, model, and beauty brand founder has spoken out about her breast implants several times through the years. In 2014, she revealed to Allure that she had her augmentation reversed. Then, in 2017, she shared a piece of advice for her younger self during an interview with Vogue UK saying, “Don’t mess with your boobs… just celebrate what you’ve got.”Photo: Neilson Barnard/Getty Images.
Heidi Montag
Four years after getting size F breast implants (along with a staggering 9 other cosmetic enhancements in a single day), The Hills star started experiencing health concerns and decided to get a reversal in 2013. “They were so heavy they were falling through the skin,” Montag told People. “It was just too heavy for my body and I was in pain and uncomfortable all the time. I thought, ‘What do I need this big of breasts for?'”Photo: Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images.
Adrienne Bailon
During an episode of The Real, the co-host told viewers that her double D breast implants, which she got at the age of 19, eventually brought on more insecurity than having smaller breasts. “I got my breast implants taken out because I looked crazy,” she said. “The insecurity [went from] ‘I don’t have big breasts’ to ‘Now everyone is looking at my breasts,’ and I was more embarrassed that people knew I was so insecure that I went and got breast implants.”Photo: Jon Kopaloff/FilmMagic.
Sharon Osbourne
During an episode of The Talk in 2011, Osbourne shared that she had her breast implants removed following a health scare in which one of her implants started leaking. “One morning, I woke up and one of my boobies was kind of much longer than the other… So I’m thinking, This isn’t right,” she said, adding that she found relief in her decision. “I don’t feel like I have a water bed laying on my chest anymore.”Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images.
Pamela Anderson
After choosing to get her implants removed for aesthetic reasons in 1999, the Baywatch star said that doctors found a leak in the process. “I feel like I’m a petite person, and just having these large breasts was, it just didn’t feel right anymore… I just didn’t feel like it looked very good,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “There were no medical problems… Actually, when I did remove them, they found a leak in one side.”Photo: Stephane Cardinale/Corbis/Getty Images.
